SPIRES FEDERATION GOVERNING BODY
The Governors of The Spires Federation are a group of volunteers who carry overall responsibility for the school. We comprise representatives from the local community, parents, and those who work at the schools. It is our job to act as “critical friends”, monitoring the life of the school, the delivery of the curriculum, and the finances which pay for it all. The full governing body meets six times a year, where matters surrounding finance and personnel, curriculum and the buildings and site are all discussed. All the Governors feel a real sense of privilege at being part of The Spires Federation and enjoy working to make sure that the education provided for the children is the best it can be. Please take a read below and find out who are Governors are:
Andrew Hancy (Chair of Governors)
Andrew has a strong background within senior leadership positions within both the private and public sector. He is currently Head of Business Support Services for Lincolnshire County Council with responsibilities covering a wide area of administration, secretarial and financial support, in house apprenticeships, complaints, FOI, SARS and school administration support services. Andrew is married and has 2 grown up children, a daughter and a son. In his spare time Andrew enjoys running and keeping busy renovating the Victorian farmhouse he lives in with his family.
Andy Watson ( Vice Chair)
I am married and a Father to our wonderful 7-year-old son. I am passionate about people having an environment where there is opportunity to develop and flourish. In my spare time I enjoy running and also walking our very mischievous Golden Retriever.
Mary Watson (Parent Governor)
I am a mum, a wife, a dog owner and an avid reader. I seek new experiences and skills. I became a governor to have a voice and to support our local school. To relax I read, sew and practice yoga.
Julian Hurdman
Hello, my name is Julian Hurdman, I have lived in Dunston for nearly two years and two of my Grandchildren go to St Peter’s. My interests include cycling, running, skiing, swimming, walking, making and growing things. I am most at home in the countryside particularly fields, mountains and forests. My interest in young people’s education has been lifelong. I am passionate about children acquiring skills of curiosity and understanding and developing an approach to learning which will equip them for the many challenges which they will encounter in their life. I taught secondary mathematic for thirty-eight years and have had the real delight in witnessing the progression of young people into mature and responsible adults.
