A Vision for Music 

We love Music at Spires Federation! As musicians the children will be developing creativity, imagination, good listening skills, constructive criticism and they will have the ability to express personal thoughts and feelings. Music develops children’s ability to take part in practical activities, both individually and in groups. With the schools being set in rural locations of Lincolnshire, music is a key tool for developing cultural capital. Children are encouraged to explore different genres and music cultures throughout their lessons. Our music provision is inspirational, fun and varied. It is used as a teaching tool, to support language acquisition and to to aid routines throughout the school, especially in Early Years. It is a subject that is accessible to all, including EAL children, and through a carefully planned balance of teaching and enrichment, it is hoped that all pupils develop a life-long love of music.  

By studying Music, children are able to communicate musically allowing them to demonstrate our key values of Success, Happiness, Inspiration, Nurture and Everybody.  Our Golden Threads run clearly through our cohesive, progressive Music curriculum.  

We believe that as a Musician leaving The Spires Federation, we aspire that pupils will have a love of music. Throughout their musical time, children will have open minds to appreciate different genres of music and take inspiration from different musicians and cultures from around the world to influence their own music compositions. Children will also have acquired an understanding of key musical terms which they can confidently use in their analysis of music.
